County Commissioners Toured New Building Acquired to House Vehicles

Due to a lack of space for housing vehicles seized in drug arrest cases Geary County hasĀ geary_county_sheriffs_department_-_ks1purchased a building to address that issue.

Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf purchased the building on 10th street from George Marcus, using drug forfeiture funds.

The Geary County Commissioners who approved the purchase of the building toured it Monday morning. “It’s going to be for automobile storage over and excess of what we have right now with the Police Departments building.”

He explained that the cars will still be checked in the same way at the building shared with Junction City Police Department,” If there’s no room for them in that building then we’ll use them in the overflow building that we purchased.”

The new building can hold between 25 and 30 cars as well as has more storage space available. “Their going to use it for some records and things of that nature that their getting pretty tied up on over in the Sheriff’s Department.”

The City owned building is located at 9th and Monroe.
