Military Affairs Council Breakfast Took Look Into Everyday Life of a Soldier

The Command Sergeant Major of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team at Fort Riley presented the typical day in the life of a U.S. Army Soldier during Thursday morning’s MAC Breakfast.

CSM Christopher Gilpin explained that the day will start at 6:30 a.m. with MAC ONEphysical training for an hour. The soldier will then be allowed to return home to clean up and eat breakfast before returning at 9:00 a.m. to begin training. “They train until 11:30 a.m. typically.”

They will then take a lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. when they return for continued training. They will continue training until they are released at 5:00 p.m. but Gilpin said even though they have been released they are not off duty,” They are released from work but they are still on call, based on if something comes up the soldier can be recalled to perform their primary mission.”

Roughly 100 people attended Thursday mornings M.A.C Breakfast. Next months breakfast will be October 24th and will feature Ron Walker, Superintendent of Geary USD 475.
