Geary County Research and Extensions Agent, Chuck Otte was a finalist in the Bound Book category of the communications awards through The National Association of County Agricultural Agents.
Otte co-authored, A Pocket Guide to Common Kansas Backyard Birds. He said that he wrote it last year and decided to enter it into the competition last fall,”I did not make national winner but I was one of three national finalists in the bound book category.”
He wrote the book along with Bob Gress of Wichita. “We just wanted to make it that handy little reference book to those birds who are coming into the bird bath or in the yard or sitting in the trees of everybody’s back yard.”
Otte said that he received a plaque along with a small monetary prize for being a finalist.
