The doors will remain open at Kite’s Bar and Grille at 602 North Washington in Junction City.

The owner, Rusty Wilson, had threatened to close the business due to an  issue involving where to locate a grease receptacle. But after a meeting of all parties Tuesday the interim city manager Cheryl Beatty had some good news. “Rusty has agreed that he will continue to work with the city, and we will get it resolved, not immediately because we’re going to have to give him the chance to find an option. ”

Beatty added city officials are going to help him find the options that are available.”He won’t be closing his doors.”

The current grease receptacle for the business is on city owned property, and city officials want it removed from that location. Beatty said there are different kinds of receptacles. “Some that you can put either inside the building or outside the building, but a lot of restaurants have done them by putting them underground right outdoors, right near the exit of the building. So there are several different options.”

Beatty noted officials need to help Wilson, with his landlord, determine the best option.
