State Representative Allan Rothlisberg said this week that work on the U.S. 77 – Goldenbelt Boulevard – Lacy Drive intersection improvement project should begin about one year from now.  He has visited with KDOT officials.  That is a busy intersection on the south side of Junction City.

Rothlisberg confirms $40 million has been allotted by the state for the multiple improvement projects planned along U.S. 77, running from I-70 to north of Junction City.

The state representative informed Junction City officials that any changes to the plan will come out of the $40 million. “For example if you’re still talking about putting a bike path and sidewalk to the Middle School the state wants to see the money up front before they do the design changes on the bridge and construction. ” Rothlisberg added, “Because they don’t want to build it, because that money will come out of further portions of the project up the road by Estes Gate.”  Estes Gate is located northwest of Junction City on the west side of Fort Riley.

The state funding has been budgeted through the T-Works program.
