Junction City Resident Indicted

A Junction City resident  is on a list of federal indictments released on Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas.

Corey D. Cooley, 29, Junction City, has been charged with failing to register as required by the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. The indictment alleges he was convicted in the state of Washington on a charge of first degree child molestation. The federal crime is alleged to have occurred from May 13 to August 12 in Riley County, Kansas.

If convicted Cooley could face a maximum possible penalty of 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

The U.S. Marshal’s Service investigated the case.
