City Commission Approves Lease of New Golf Cart Fleet

The Junction City Commission has approved the five year lease of a new fleet of 40 golf carts for Rolling Meadows Golf Course.

Golf Course PGA General Manager John Bernstein said the existing fleet of 40 carts was set to begin its eighth year next month. “This is three years beyond the manufacturer’s published life expectancy for cart batteries. The 60 cart fleet that I inherited two years ago was already in its’ fifth year, was then unable to be properly stored, and had a very poor preventive maintenance program. Breakdowns were a daily occurence, costing us time and money.”

Berstein reported that 20 of the old carts were sold to purchase parts, and now a sound preventative maintenance program is in place with input from the manufacturer.

As par of the new deal the existing fleet of golf carts is being traded in.
