The Combined Federal Campaign begins at Fort Riley on Friday.
The CFC is the annual fundraising program designed to support and promote philanthropy among active-duty Soldiers and civilian Department of Defense employees, as well as contractors and family members.
“Throughout somebody’s life, you are affected somehow, some way ( by adversity ), like cancer or heart disease,” said Dori Farrow, Administration and Operations chief, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. “This is a chance of paying back.”
The goal of the campaign is to raise $300,000.
Each directorate and unit will have a designated point person to coordinate the CFC. The point person will have a catalog of vetted local and national charities. Contributors can select an organization to donate to by filling out a pledge form and submitting it to the point person with either payroll deduction informatin or a one-time cash or check payment.
The campaign will begin Friday with a special kickoff – a four-person scramble golf tournament.
