The Geary County Convention and Visitors Bureau came back from the Kansas State Fair excited about the response they received.
The CVB had three booths this year, two for the CVB and one highlighting local attractions and
lodging properties. “We gave them the opportunity to take the nine to nine shift and work a booth all by themselves featuring their attraction or business.” Hall noted that they purchased the third booth because most business’ can’t afford to be at the fair all nine days and this way they could just come down for one day.
The CVB took a survey of how many engagements were made per hour throughout the 12 hour shift all nine days. Hall noted,”An engagement is someone asking about information on Junction City or Geary County and also includes someone picking up a piece of information.” The survey showed the booth received 66 engagements per hour.
They also looked at the number of exposures per hour, “The average number of exposures was 422,” Hall said. An exposure was classified as anyone over the age of 18 walking by the display and stopping to look. “The total was 45,576 exposures.”
She also mentioned that they handed out a record number visitor guides but fell short of this years goal of handing out 1,500 guides,”we actually did 1,350. However we did fall short of our goal we still significantly out surpassed any year that we’ve been at the fair.”
Hall said that they distributed 240 surveys throughout the fair,”We did 40 of them a day, twenty to people who have visited here and twenty to people who had not visited here and we’re already receiving a lot of those back.”
“How to look at the return on going to something like that is we can count the number of engagements per hour and the number of exposures per hour and that all brings us to a very, very successful state fair this year,” Hall said.
