The 14th annual Fall Classic Golf Tournament raised more than $28,300.

The money will be used to established a certified athletic trainer for Geary USD 475 student-athletes.

A field of 144 golfers participated in the four-person scramble at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. The championship team members for the Fall Classic were Todd Frieze, Harold Oakleaf, Garrett Rediker, and Sean Robertson. They were each awarded cash and gift prizes in addition to individual trophies.

Brandon Martino, a Junction City High School graduate has been selected for the trainer’s position and will be contracted through Geary Rehabilitation and Fitness during the 2013-2014 school year. Martino holds a degree from Bethany College.

With the national spotlight on concussion and concussion management in sports, the Geary Community Healthcare Foundation has also secured a private donation from Ruth and Josephine Rago to invet in the Impact Concussion Management System, which will be utilized by the new athletic trainer. All student athletes will utilize the services of the athletic trainer and concussion management system. That includes activities such as the cheerleading and dance team.
