(AP) — Top prosecutors and law enforcement officials in the Topeka area have scheduled what they’re calling an important announcement about a joint criminal investigation.

U.S. Attorney for Kansas Barry Grissom and Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor called a news conference for 10 a.m. Thursday. They’ll be joined by Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones and Topeka Deputy Police Chief Tony Kirk.

The officials declined to release any details of the investigation Wednesday. A spokesman for Grissom said only that it involves an important matter of interest to Topeka residents.

Taylor’s office said the news conference would deal with criminal indictments.
