There were two events in the Heritage Park area in downtown Junction City Wednesday evening.
One involved the GoldStar11 tour, which visited the community.

The tour is raising funds for a proposed memorial to be built in Kansas City, Kansas. It is being coordinated by the American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation to honor fallen warriors who have lost their lives as a result of conflicts since the Gulf War began.
The tour included two artifacts from the slurry wall foundation at Ground Zero under the World Trade Center that was destroyed in the 9/11 attacks. They were available for viewing by the public. There was also a Freedom concert featuring Diana Nagy and Nathan Osmond.

The turnout was relatively light with only about 25 people attending the concert.
Nagy talked about the fundraising effort for the Memorial. We want to build the largest Memorial ever. It’s on 20 acres in Kansas City to honor our fallen from the Gulf War until now. We need to do this now because we need to honor our GoldStar families and we don’t want to wait 60 years like our World War veterans had to wait. ” Nagy also added, “And if every American gives us just one dollar we can build this Memorial now, this monument.
Organizers would like to have the monument built by next year. The total fundraising goal for the project is $30 million.
Prior to the Freedom Concert the annual Cry Out America Event was held in Heritage Park. Attendance was better with about 70 people present by 7 p.m.

A number of pastors spoke during that event, an effort to seek transformation and a Christ awakening in every state and county in the nation. The effort began in 2008 by the Reverend Billy Wilson, who is now president of Oral Roberts University. The goals of the event were to remember the 9 / 11 victims, but also make it clear there is hope in this nation.
There were prayers for first responders and their families, military personnel and their families, and for government officials.
