The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a fatality accident occurred Sunday afternoon on I-70 seven miles east of the K-177 junction.
KHP reported the fatality victim was Samantha Coleman, 31, Abilene.
KHP said a Chevrolet Trailblazer was parked on the north shoulder of I-70 westbound due to a tire with separated tread. The driver, Samantha Coleman, had gotten out of the vehicle, and was standing in the north ditch next to the Trailblazer. KHP reported another vehicle, a Ford pickup, was westbound and the driver, Daniel Nitchman, 38, St. Robert, Missouri fell asleep, causing it to drift off the road into the north ditch, striking Coleman.
The accident happened just before 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
