It has been a number of year’s since Kansas State University has had two Quarterbacks that could easily start every game for the Wildcats.
Junior College Transfer, Jake Waters, earned the starting spot going into the season, however, Red-shirt Sophomore, Daniel Sams has also gotten in and seen success.
KSU Coach Bill Snyder said Tuesday, ” The bottom line of all of it is Jake is a good young Quarterback and Daniel is a good young Quarterback.”
Finding a way to utilize both quarterbacks has not been easy for Snyder,” You’ve got two guys that deserve to and need to be on the field and we have to find ways or continue to find and cultivate ways in order to utilize both of them.”
Snyder considers it an “advantage” of theirs to do so.
Waters came to KSU known for his arm and in the first two games he has completed 43 passes, which is the most since Josh Freeman had 57 to begin the 2007 season. Sams is more known for his running capabilities leading the team with 80 rushing yards through the first two games.
As it stands right now Waters remains the starting quarterback but expect Sams to see action under center as well.
The Wildcats will cap off non-conference play Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium against the Minutemen of Massachusetts.
