Blue Jays Lose Member of the Defensive Secondary

blue jay logoA starter in the defensive secondary for the Junction City Blue Jay football team has been lost for the remainder of the season due to an injury.

JC Post has confirmed through multiple sources that JCHS junior Aryus Jones suffered a severe leg injury in a non-contact drill at practice Wednesday. Jones underwent surgery Thursday in Manhattan, and is recovering in good condition.

Jones is one of the outstanding players on defense for the Blue Jays. He has been a starter at safety. Through eight games he had registered 32 tackles, 24 of which were solo tackles, and eight assists. He also had one tackle for a loss, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery for the 8-0 Blue Jays.

Jones is expected to recover for his senior season.

The Blue Jays host Wichita North Friday night at Al Simpler Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. It will be senior night for fall sports athletes at JCHS.

If Junction City wins the football game the Blue Jays will clinch a district championship. Wichita North enters the contest 1-7 on the season.
