Brock Barrett finished third and Johnathan Bowen fourth for the Wakefield Bombers in the five-team Lincoln Invitational cross country meet.
Those efforts helped propel the Bombers to a second-place team finish with a total score of 59 points, behind only Bennington who had the winning low team score of 33 points, and three points ahead of Natoma who finished third with 62 points. Wilson was fourth with 86 points, and Tescott fifth with 106 points.
Coach Ladd Braden said the Bombers ran up against 2A Bennington and 1A Natoma. According to several polls, Natoma is ranked first in the state in the 1A class. “Coming into this meet our main goal was to see how we would stack up against one of the best teams in our classification. Even before the race began, I could tell that our boys were ready to compete against them.”
Also for Wakefield, Jordan Colglazier finished 19th in 22:09, and Preston McCallum 20th in 22:38.
For the Wakefield girls Sierra Otto finished 28th in 33:29 and Cassidy Tiller 31st in 37:51.
