football clip artFormer Manhattan High School head football coach Lew Lane will be honored Friday night at halftime of the MHS football game against the Junction City Blue Jays.

Mike Marsh, Athletic Director, said they’ll recognize Lane’s accomplishment during his time as head coach. “During that process we’re also going to recognize his assistant coaches that are able to attend that evening as well. Manhattan High football alumni are invited back to attend that game as well to view and be a part of that program.”

Lane enjoyed a great deal of success during his time as head football coach, guiding the Indians to numerous district and league titles. His 1988 squad captured the Class 6A state championship.

Marsh stated it will be called “Bishop Stadium at Lew Lane Field.”

Marsh played quarterback for the Indians on Lane’s 1980, 81, 82 team. “He’s a great motivator. He was just a great leader of people and kids.”
