The Junction City Reds Babe Ruth 14 and Under baseball team rolled to a 5-1 record in recent days, and ran their season mark to 8-3.

Coach Denver Kell said the Reds finished second in the Chapman Tournament. “We played Minneapolis in our first game, and then we took out Hays in the second game, and then we lost by one run to Chapman in the championship round by a score of 7-6.

Kell noted the entire team played well. “Every time a ball was hit to a kid they were making plays. Devin Sharpston, Keeton Babcock, Jaden Kell, Griffin Opat made some hits, everybody was playing very well. It took a whole team effort to make it even to the championship game.

Then on Monday night in a doubleheader the Reds cruised by McPherson by the scores of 21-7 and 20-5.  The Reds play a doubleheader at Abilene Wednesday evening. Game times are 6 and 8 p.m.
