The Kansas City Monarchs scored two runs in the top of the first and went on to defeat the Junction City Brigade at Rathert Field 4-2 Saturday night.
The Brigade ( 10-7 ) tried to rally from a 4-2 deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning by putting runners at first and second base with two out. But Junction City was unsuccessful getting them home.
The Brigade will host the Topeka Senators Monday night at 7 p.m.
