The Kansas State High School Activities Association Board has voted to increase the distance for regional and state meet high school girls cross country races to 5K, effective with the 2015 season. The distance has been 4K.

A 5K run covers a 3.1 mile distance.

Beginning with the 2015 eason all KSHSAA regional and state girls meets will be running the 5K distance in both girls and boys competition.
