The Big 12 reached an agreement Wednesday on a new tiebreaker process. According to ESPN, the new plan would honor head-to-head results in a two-team tie. This was agreed upon by the Big 12 coaches and
athletic directors at the end of the spring meetings in Phoenix, AZ in an unanimous decision.
If three teams are tied, and the records of the teams against each other doesn’t break the tie, their records against the next-highest team in the standings would be compared. If there is still no winner, scoring differentials between the teams would be the deciding factor. The final decision, should none of these steps decide a winner, would be for the conference office to draw the winner.
Last year both Baylor and TCU were named co-champions and awarded Big 12 title trophies.
