The Junction City Blue Jay baseball team picked up an 8-4 win over Emporia in game one of a doubleheader at Rathert Field. In game two Emporia defeated the Blue Jays 5-1.
Junction City coach Drew Biery commented on the first game win. “I think our guys came out ready to play. They had a really good approach. They put the pressure on right away.”
The Blue Jays jumped on top 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning and didn’t give up any runs until the sixth inning. Kris Quidachay pitched five innings to get the win.
Game two was tied 1-1 after five innings. Biery noted a close play at the plate did not go in favor of the Blue Jays that gave Emporia a 2-1 lead. Then after that the Blue Jays made some mistakes.
