At the end of May between 225 and 250 two man teams are expected to compete in the 2015 Cabela’s National Team Championship at Milford Lake.
Connie Hall, the Director of the Geary County Convention and Visitors Bureau
explained that the economic impact from just the fisherman is expected to be over $1 million.
“If you just give those an average of $1,740 per team that they will spend when they’re here, and of course that includes lodging and other amenities as well, we’re looking at a direct economic impact of over $360,000,” said Hall. “But if you put a rollover on that of about one to four, because that’s how many times $1 in the extreme can turnover in a community, then we’re really looking at right around $1.63 million on total economic impact.”
The tournament is in it’s 13th year and Milford Lake has hosted it once before in 2003. It will run from May 27-30.
Hall noted that lodging facilities around Milford Lake are already booked solid for the weekend of the tournament and other facilities in Junction City are filling up as well.
