The 2015 State Wrestling Meet is being held at Hartman Arena in Park City, Friday and Saturday. We will be bringing you the latest results as they become available.

Junction City qualified nine wrestlers for this years tournament, including six regional champions and two runner up finishers at last weekends Regional Tournament at Wichita Northeast Magnet School. 

1st Round

106#: Max Bazan (30-8) vs Jake DeJong (8-8); Bazan won by a major decision over DeJong in three periods 13-2. He will face Kaj Perez (36-4) of Garden City in round two.

113#: Tanner Bogenhagen (10-29) vs Shayn Morris (24-6); Bogenhagen was pinned in the 1st period by Morris. He will now move to the back half of the bracket and will face Brooks Rockey (12-14) of Blue Valley Northwest.

126#: Gabe Padilla (26-13) vs Kavian Kalantari (26-17); Padilla defeated Kalantari in a 6-1 decision. Padilla will now go on to face Michael Prieto (42-3) of Garden City.

138#: Downey Wood (39-5) vs Alec Castillo (12-6); Wood pinned Castillo in the 2nd period. He will now face Doug Newcomb (36-3) of Olathe Northwest in the 2nd round.

145#: Jake Bazan (32-6) vs James Wensel (17-8); Bazan pinned Wesnel with :56 sec. left in the 1st period. He will now go up against Garrhett Hurst (19-6) of Blue Valley in the 2nd round.

152#: Jeryl Denton (37-3) vs Garret Tierney (26-14); Denton Pinned Tierney with :23 sec. left in the 1st period. He will now face Nick Killion (35-11) of Dodge City in the 2nd round.

160#: Aryus Jones (34-2) vs Kevin Folsom (18-9); Jones picked up a superior decision win over Folsom winning 15-0. He will move on to the 2nd round and face Issac Walton (29-11) of Blue Valley North.

170#: Xavier DeGuzman (10-4) vs Eric Foerster (31-10); DeGuzman Lost in overtime 7-9 to Foerster. He will move to the back half of the bracket and will next face Anthony Bendure (18-12) of Shawnee Mission West.

182#: J’Quan Robinson (25-11) vs Tyler Jouret (24-22); Robinson won by a 5-0 decision over Jouret. He will now face Matt Washoo (28-9) of Wichita Northwest.

2nd Round

106#: Max Bazan vs Kaj Perez (36-4) of Garden City. Bazan fall’s in 0-8 decision to Perez in three periods.

126#: Gabe Padilla vs Michael Prieto (42-3) of Garden City. Padilla lost in a 1-16 superior decision to Prieto.

138#: Downey Wood vs Doug Newcomb (36-3) of Olathe Northwest. Wood fell to Newcomb in overtime 6-8.

145#: Jake Bazan vs Garrhett Hurst (19-6) of Blue Valley. Bazan picks up 7-4 decision win over Hurst.

152#: Jeryl Denton vs Nick Killion (35-11) of Dodge City. Denton pinned Killion in the 1st period.

160#: Aryus Jones vs Issac Walton (29-11) of Blue Valley North. Jones picks up a 11-1 major decision over Walton.

182#: J’Quan Robinson vs Matt Washoo (28-9) of Wichita Northwest. Robinson pinned with 1:37 in 2nd period by Washoo.

1st Round of Consolation

113#: Tanner Bogenhagen vs Brooks Rockey of Blue Valley Northwest. With :13 seconds to go in the 2nd period Bogenhagen pinned Rockey. Bogenhagen will go on to wrestle Jay Maxville of Washburn Rural.

170#: Xavier DeGuzman vs Anthony Bendure of Shawnee Mission West. DeGuzman takes Bendure all three rounds and wins in a 7-0 decision. DeGuzman will go on to wrestle Reshean Tipton of Wichita South.

Championship Semi-Finals

145#: Jake Bazan vs Cole Moses of Maize. Bazan Picks up a 11-6 decision win over Moses. Bazan improves to 37-6 on the season and will face Tevin Briscoe of Garden City who is 46-2 on the season in Saturday’s championship match.

152#: Jeryl Denton vs Tanner Madl of Blue Valley. Denton advances to the championship match with 8-1 decision over Madl and improves to 42-3 on the season. He will face Garrett Xanders of Derby who sits at 36-7 on the season.

160#: Aryus Jones vs Brett Moon of Maize. Jones falls in a 1-4 decision to Bell. He will move to the back half of the bracket and wrestle for an opportunity at 3rd place.
