The Riley County Law Board met Tuesday and discussed the upcoming Fake Patty’s Daycelebration. Captain Kyle gave an update to the Law Board on what the Riley County Police Department is expecting.

According to Captain Kyle, from Friday evening on the day before Fake Patty’s to the Sunday evening the day after, there are about 2.5 times the amount of citizen calls and 2.5 times the amount of reports filed. During this period there are also 4 times the amount of physical arrests and 16 times the amount of citations issued.

The celebration in 2013 was slightly more exuberant because of nice weather, according to Captain Kyle, but 2014 showed another dip in calls, most likely due to cold weather. The peak hours for emergency responders and police officers on Fake Patty’s Day are between 4-5 p.m. and 9-11 p.m.

RCPD will once again bring in other agencies from around the state to assist. Officers from other jurisdictions will be partnered with RCPD officers in a support role in bike patrols and foot patrols.

The City of Manhattan, Emergency Responders and the RCPD will be pushing a social media campaign leading up to Fake Patty’s day to inform those attending about the rules and regulations. Open drinking in the streets of Aggieville will still not be allowed.
