Geary County Commissioner Larry Hicks and Junction City Commissioner Cecil Aska were in Lawrence Thursday for President Barrack Obama’s visit to the University of Kansas.

Commissioner Hicks explained that it was an incredible experience to hear up close and personal the President of the United States.

“His message was primarily the same as it was expressed this past Tuesday when he did the State of the Union address,” said Hicks.

Some of the topics the President touched on included affordable childcare, the nations improving economy and the need to work together for the people.

Hicks added that both Commissioner Aska and himself had the experience of a lifetime following the President’s speech.

“Both Commissioner Aska, as well as myself, got the chance to extend our hands to the President, and he shook both of our hands. It was an incredible experience.”

Obama was on the second day of a two-day trip to conservative states where he was making the case for initiatives that he outlined in his State of the Union speech Tuesday.
