There has not been as much activity as usual for emergency personnel and law enforcement authorities
during the cold snap.
There’s been less criminal activity during the last few days. The Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown says that’s been the case since the first of the year since the weather turned colder.
“I think every year that has an effect on our crime rate. It’s not that I always want it to be cold, but it sure is nice for our department to give us an opportunity to catch up.”
Kevin Royse, Junction City Fire Chief, said it’s been relatively slow, and there has not been an increase in call volume during the cold snap.
During the cold weather the temperature dipped into the single digits, and with the wind chill factored in produced below zero like conditions.
