The Junction City Commission has voted 5-0 to approve the sale of cereal malt beveages and alcoholic
liqour in original packages on Sundays.
Mayor Mike Ryan said the local option ordinance permitting the sales must be published. “After the second publication anyody who wants to start a petition to make it to go a referendum has 61 days. So there would be a 61-day window after the second publication. ” If no one starts a petition and there is no referendum it would become city law after 61-days from the date of the second publication.
The proposed for the Sunday sales are noon to 8 p.m. But no sales would be allowed on Easter, the Fourth of July, and Christmas.
