Saint Xavier Alumni Games Saturday Night

The first ever alumni basketball games will be played at Saint Xavier High School Saturday night.SAINT XAVIER SCHOOL

The planning for this event has been under way for months.

Dan Zoeller said it will also be a donation game for Saint Xavier High School to help raise funds to save the school. He expects 100 to 150 alumni to return. Some of those include former coaches Ben Meseke, Jim Westerhaus, Nick Linn, and Roger Diekman. Numerous former players are also expected to return.

The event begins with Mass at 5:15 p.m. followed by a chili feed at 6, introductions of coaches and players at 7, and the alumni games ( women and men ) begin at 7:30 p.m. Mike Manns and Kevin Wilmott will serve as the emcees.

There is no admission charge to attend, but free will donations are being accepted.  There is a goal to raise $50,000 by March to save the school, and the current fundraising total has already topped $21,000. Zoeller is hopeful the event Saturday evening can help raise some funds. ” We have shirts being sold. Screen Machine will be there. Every shirt that we sell we’ll get a profit off of em.”

Zoeller said this is the only event that’s ever happened like this in the history of the school.
