Great Bend outscored Junction City 18-5 in the closing minutes to defeat the Lady Jays in basketball at the Shenk Gym 66-54.

The game was tied at 49-40, but strong offensive rebounding and good free throw shooting down the stretch lifted the Panthers to the win. Great Bend was 11-13 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Junction City was led in scoring by Akia Fain with 21 points, while Kealee Rains had 16 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Jays fell to 0-3, while Great Bend is 3-1 on the season.
