Blue Jay Football Awards

Downey Wood was named Offensive Player of the Year, and Tyrik Nas-Carmickle

Defensive Player of the Year for the 2014 Junction City Blue Jay football team.

Numerous awards were presented to Blue Jays during a postseason assembly at Junction City High School Sunday evening.

Wayne Shirley was named the Special Teams Player of the Year, Lonnie Autry Scout Team Offensive Player of the Year, and Austin Lussier was the Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year.

Several individual memorial awards were presented:

–Ron Lowry Memorial Award……Jaylen Brooks

–Malcolm Tibbets Award ( to the most inspirational player)…Raye Wilson

–Joseph Sinegal Memorial Award…Xavier DeGuzman and Tate Zimmerman

–Coach Al Simpler Memorial Award…Grant Whaley and Christian Ozores

–Elijah Carter / Salisbury Memorial Award…Angeleau Scott

–The Black Lion Award….Tyrik Nas-Carmickle

The 2014 Blue Jay football team won both District and Regional championships, and advanced to the Sectional ( second ) round of the Class 6A postseason playoffs. The Blue Jays finished with a final record of 8-3.
