Latest Algae Status at Milford Lake

Test sample results for toxic blue green algae continue to improve at Milford Lake.milford lake Effective Thursday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has placed the Lake under a “combined ” status. Areas north of Farnum Creek have been placed in an “Advisory” status, and all areas south of Farnum Creek are now considered clear with no restrictions in place.

That’s an improvement from last week when the area north of Farnum Creek was under a warning, and areas south of there were under an advisory.

Under an advisory direct contact with the water has been discouraged, but is allowed. At all times boating and fishing are allowed.

The Corps of Engineers reported cell counts at all test locations this week continued to fall with samples collected at the Milford City boat ramp, Timber Creek ramp, and Wakefield boat ramp only moderately in the Advisory range. KDHE will again collect samples next Monday.
