Ty Zimmerman to Watch the Blue Jays

Former Blue Jay and Kansas State standout Ty Zimmerman is back in Junction City this week visiting family, and to watch the Junction City football team play Manhattan Friday night at Al Simpler Stadium.

Ty is currently a member of the New Orleans Saints organization, on their injured reserve list, while he recovers from shoulder surgery for an injury suffered in a preseason game in August.

After watching the Blue Jay practice on Wednesday he remembered back to his playing days in a Junction City uniform….his senior year. “It was up for league, district championship, silver trophy, and we were going for a perfect 9-0 record. So many emotions were into that game, and we ended up coming out and hitting on all cylinders and putting a good game together….something I’ll never forget.”

Junction City won that ballgame in 2008 by the score of 30-6  enroute to a perfect 13-0 season and the Class 6A state championship.

This annual matchup is always a big game for both programs….the Blue Jays and the Indians. This year’s game kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday.  Manhattan will enter undefeated at 5-0, while the Blue Jays are 4-1.
