The Economic Development Commission in Junction City has approved an application for a $16,000 loan from a revolving loan fund. 
Ben Kitchens, EDC Chairman, said Connie Detwiler of Legacy CDL Training Inc. plans to start a truck driving school in conjunction with Cloud County Community College.
Kitchens indicated classes will be taught through Cloud County. “Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday on actual classroom half days, truck training the other half. On Wednesday there’ll be a wellness class for college credit that the drivers will have to take.” There will also be optional truck driving training available on Saturday’s.
The EDC approved the loan with one requirement….that approval also be obtained from the Kansas Board of Regents.
Kitchens said 60 to 80 students are expected the first year of the program, and more than 100 the second year. He added Detwiler would like to start the program as soon as possible, and definitely within 90 days.
