Doctors Support Ron Mace

A group of doctors at Geary Community Hospital showed their support for retired Dr. Ron Mace on Wednesday.

They took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge where a bucket of ice water was poured over their heads at the front entrance of the hospital.

Family members confirm Ron Mace has been diagnosed with ALS ( Lou Gehrig’s Disease ).

Mace talked with JCPost.com saying right now he is just a little weak and shaky. About the support from the other doctors Mace stated, “Yeah, it was a good deal. Little wet, but otherwise okay.” As for the bucket of water being dumped on him….IT FELT COLD!”

Those who participated in the ALS Challenge included Dr. Mace himself, his wife Andrea Mace, plus Drs. Richard Lochamy, Todd Frieze, Jimmy Jenkins, Lynley Hohlman, Rhonda Mace, Physicians Assistants Dennis Sewell, and Carissa Horton, Geary County Commissioner Ben Bennett, and Pastor Lauri Barnes.

Andrea Mace noted the family has lots of help and a lot of people to take care of them. On the ALS challenge Wednesday she stated, “It’s wonderful. It’s encouraging. These are his lifelong friends. ”

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is designed to raise awareness and funds to fight ALS.
