The Geary Community Hospital Board of Trustee’s has approved a $25,800 bid to replace a failing retaining wall on the hospital’s east side.
The retaining wall is leaning and if it does give way several utilities in that area
are at risk. Including a natural gas connection, two high power transformers and an HVAC system that cools Alphacare, the emergency department, and part of Medical Arts I.
Rich Webb, GCH Facilities Director presented the bid from Gustafson Concrete of Junction City to the Board of Trustee’s Tuesday and did gain approval.
Webb explained that the work will begin in five to six weeks, and the new wall is expected to be much stronger than the current retaining wall.
The wall was the top concern of Webb’s when he presented to the board earlier this month a facilities update with his top 15 areas of concern.
