Junction City and Geary County Commissioners spent time Monday reviewing a list of discussion
topics when local leaders go to Washington D. C. for the annual AUSA ( Association of the United States Army ) convention in October.
City Commissioner Jim Sands says one item will include the East Street access to the installation, a project that if ever undertaken would connect I-70 with Grant Avenue and provide better access to Fort Riley.
There are more on the list. “The reduction of homes on the installation to the one-third two-third even though there’s 313 that were requested for deferment, we still need to get those numbers back to what’s right. ” Sequestration and the amount of support the City provides to Fort Riley are other issues that local officials will discuss with elected and military leaders, and staffs when they travel to the nation’s capital.
Mayor Mike Ryan and vice mayor Mick McCallister will represent Junction City at the AUSA convention.
