Effective October 1 the First National Bank in Junction City will become the Exchange Bank.
Ken Mortenson, Bank President, confirmed the Bank is not being sold, but is being merged. “The plans are to merge with Exchange Bank. The owners of our bank have owned the bank for 15 years. And they also own Exchange Bank, which has offices in Nebraska in Kearney, Gibbon, Grand Island, and Lincoln. And then they have a branch in Salina, Kansas. And so the plan is to just merge them under one name under Exchange Bank. ”
The banks are owned by the Schardt family from Nebraska.
Mortenson said the personnel at the bank in Junction City will remain the same. “Well, we’re keeping the same people, same staff, same locations. Got new signs and awnings and whatever ordered, and new forms and supplies, but it’s primarily just going to be signage. ”
Mortenson noted there could be a few changes internally in processes and procedures, but indicated it will generally be business as usual. He also added the Bank’s Herington location is also part of the merger change.
