Local Delegation Meets with KDOT on Signage Improvements

A delegation of city, county, and Chamber of Commerce officials, plus state legislators met with a i70three-member KDOT signage staff Thursday in Topeka.

Local leaders from Junction City and Geary County want better signage on the Interstate, pointing out this city and attractions in the city and county.

County Commissioner Ben Bennett was a member of the delegation.

“Things in the community that we that thought ought to be pointed out as sites that people would be looking for. And we felt that that was a major issue for us. ” Bennett said the State Department of Transportation personnel understood. “And they said we’re going to look at this. We’re going to work with it. It may or may not be the fact that you’re going to get everything you’re looking for, but we maybe can make some improvements.”

Meet with the KDOT personnel were Bennett, Junction City Commissioners Mick McCallister, Jim Sands, and Mike Ryan, Interim City Manager Cheryl Beatty, Chamber CEO Tom Weigand, CVB Assistant Director Rick Dykstra, State Senator Jeff Longbine, plus State Representatives Tom Moxley and Allan Rothlisberg.
