B & B Theatres has big plans for the renovation of the Westside 4 Theater building on
West Sixth Street in Junction City.

The renovated facility will be called B & B Theatres Gem.

The plans range from a new outer facade to improved concession areas, and motorized recliner theater seating.

The Program and Business Development Director for B & B Brock Bagby stated, “It will be the first theater in Kansas to offer fully motorized recliner seating in every single auditorium, which we’re really excited about.” There will also be 78-inch row spacing, which equates to six and a half feet. “That allows you to fully recline and still be able to walk. So you lose about half your seats, but again like I said every seat’s a good seat.”

Bagby indicated overall capacity will drop from the current level of about 1,000 seats down to just under 400.

In the future once the renovation is complete reserved seating will also be offered.

The plan is to close the building for the interior renovations after the final shows on Labor Day, and reopen in early October. Exterior work on the building has already begun.

B & B Theatres is the management company for the facility, while the Bramlage Foundation owns the theatre building.
