As they do every year, Junction City firefighters will be working to raise funds for the Muscular
Dystrophy Association.
Firefighter spokesman Derek Christian said beginning Friday (Aug. 15 ) they will be doing their boot block. “We’ll have a bunch of firefighters out there at the intersection of Chestnut and Washington, and then we’ll be at Sixth and Webster.”
Motorists will be able to put a financial donation in the boot and then receive a sticker that says they helped firefighters raise funds for MDA. There will be approximately four to six firefighters at each intersection. They will also do a boot block collection Aug. 22 at the same intersections.
Later, on Monday ( Aug. 18 ) the firefighters will conduct their Taco Night fundraiser for MDA. It will begin at 5 p.m. at Coach’s Grill and Bar. “All the proceeds, the tips, everything will go towards MDA. ”
You will be able to purchase tacos inside the restaurant or outdoors curbside. Christian said, “We’ll have the annual taco eating contest, $10 per person, eat as many tacos as they want, and they get their name on the taco eating contest plaque.” There will also be t-shirts for sale.
