Day two of the Geary County Free Fair kicked of at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday with the livestock weigh-in and check-in.
This year fair officials weighed in a large number of livestock according to
Ginger Kopfer, 4-H and Youth County Extension Agent.
“We had 23 sheep, 19 goats, 18 pigs and 12 steers, so pretty good numbers for us,” said Kopfer.
This years largest steer weighed in at 1,394 pounds.
“That’s pretty heavy, I mean that’s good enough because most of them aren’t going to be bigger than that. They can go anywhere down to 1,100 pounds, is our minimum weight. Anything above that work’s for us.”
The 4-H Dairy and Goat Show will kick off at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. Later this evening starting at 7:00 p.m. will be the 4-H Bucket Calf and Beef Show.
