Dalton Shalberg pitched six strong innings, and Sean Talkington came on in the seventh to help the Junction City Brigade ( 15-8 ) shut out Baldwin City 3-0 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader at Rathert Field on Wednesday night.
Junction City batters carved out five singles and drew five walks in the ballgame.
In game two Baldwin City ( 8-13 ) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and then held on for a 3-2 victory over the Brigade. Junction City had two runners thrown out at the plate in that contest. B.B. Kimbrel hit two doubles for the Brigade, and Brooks Debord hit one double as well for Junction City.
The Brigade will play a doubleheader at Baldwin City Thursday night.
