Economic development recruiting was one topic during a Chamber of Commerce report to the Junction City Commission during a budget work session this week.
Chamber CEO Tom Weigand said the Economic Development Commission needs to add another person to the staff. That is included in a proposed revision of the 2014 budget. “The EDC feels like we need to go out and hire an additional economic development person to target industries, recruit industries, get involved more in a reach out form of marketing, attend more conferences, and do a lot of target industries.”
Weigand said if the City Commission approves the change some time in the September time frame the Chamber might have another employee on board. He estimated the salary for the position in the $50,000 to $60,000 per year range.
No final action has been taken by the City Commission on the budget revision at this point.
