Two dead in Sunday plane crash, victims identified

GREAT BEND—An investigation into the cause of a fatal plane crash is underway in Barton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the small, single engine plane had only two people on board. They were identified as a 49-year-old Great Bend man and a 24-year-old man from Utah.  They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred about 11:30 a.m. four miles west of Great Bend near Northwest 40th Road and Northwest 30th Avenue.
