After conducting a preliminary investigation and receiving the preliminary autopsy results the Junction City Police Department finds that Shawn Michael Thomas, 26, died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Thomas was found dead inside of his apartment located at 1731 North Park Drive, apartment five by JCPD and EMS. He was a soldier assigned to 31st, Av, E Co., Ft. Riley.

The investigation is still on going according to Lieutenant Jeff Childs.

“We have to wait on the final autopsy report and we have a few more people to interview, but we feel that our findings are where they need to be at this point in time,” Childs said.

At this time JCPD does not believe foul play has take place.
