Drowning Search Update

badge formThe three-day search for a Milford Lake drowning victim has been unsuccessful to this point.

The Salina area man, who was approximately 65 years of age, drowned Sunday morning in the West Rolling Hills area of the lake.

Tony Wolf, Geary County Sheriff,  explained the victim tried to retrieve a fishing pole that was falling off of a pontoon boat, fell off the boat into the water, and never resurfaced.

Wolf said authorities are still searching. “Our efforts are now kind of waiting to see when we can find the subject when he starts to float.”  Wolf added officials believe the victim’s body is still in the West Rolling Hills area.

While some searchers have been pulled off, the Sheriff noted there are still patrols on the water watching the shoreline, and the area where the body is believed to be located.
