Crews returned Tuesday morning to the West Rolling Hills area of Milford Lake to continue the search from Sunday’s drowning victim.
Tony Wolf, Geary County Sheriff explained that crews searched all day Monday up until dark, “finally had to give up because we couldn’t see anymore.”
Wolf said that crews were back on the lake by 8:30 Tuesday morning searching the area that they believe a man fell overboard and never resurfaced Sunday morning. They are scanning the area that they have been searching with side scan sonar.
“Trying to see what we can see, if there was something that we overlooked or missed, something like that. As we go into the next few days we’re also watching the surface out there in case he does come to float out there,” Wolf said.
The search team consists of about 15 people. Wolf said they do not plan on bringing anybody else in to assist with the search because they are already doing as much as anybody can do.
“Everybody who, I guess for a lack of better terms, specializes in this type of stuff, they all said that we are doing everything that we could do.”
The search process has been difficult due to the topography of the lake. Wolf said that their sonar equipment has a difficult time reading the bottom of the lake due to large rocks and a rock ledge that runs the entire length of the cove.
