Ogden Elementary was on Lockout by Request of RCPD

Michael Pagels, Little Apple Post

Update 3:50 p.m. – Officer Mat Droge has told the Little Apple Post that the police do not plan on giving out a description of the suspect at this time.

Statement from the Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 Facebook Page

“The Riley County Police Department called Ogden Elementary School at approximately 2pm today to ask them to go into a lockout. A lockout is when all exterior doors are shut and locked and no one enters or exits the building. RCPD was looking for someone and they had reason to believe this person was in the Ogden area.

RCPD gave Ogden Elementary School the all-clear at about 3:05pm.

We also had a plan in place to hold some of the Ogden middle and high school students who ride the school bus at the Ogden community center until we received the all clear from RCPD. We would have held the students at the community center with a school bus, a driver and the associate superintendent. We would have continued the drop off of students at the regular stops once we received the all clear.

Since the all clear came at 3:05pm, we didn’t need to put our plan in place.

The safety of our students and adults will be always priority number one!”

The Little Apple Post will continue to follow the investigation, and will update when more information is available.

“Police arrived in Ogden for isolated complaint of sexual assault between two people known to each other. No arrests made at this time. School is not the location of the call, they are not on lockdown. The school may have decided to go into lockout, however. We have no evidence to support a direct threat to the children or the school itself.”
