A service was held this morning, Friday, May 16, in front of the Riley County Law Enforcement Center for National Law Enforcement Memorial Week. Current law enforcement officers were honored for their work and dedication, and the officers who have been killed in the line of duty were remembered with the history of their services to the community.
Officers from RCPD, KSU, Ft. Riley, Junction City, Wamego, Pottawatomie County Sheriff Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were present at the ceremony dressed in their formal wear. Also in attendance was the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce President, Lyle Butler and City Commissioner and Riley County Law Board Chair John Matta.
